Phosphorescent plastisol is a glow-in-the-dark ink which is supplied ready to use or in a component (powder and base form). This ink is formulated for application to cotton and cotton/polyester garments and novelty items. Best results are obtained printed directly onto a white garment or when printed over a white underbase.
In daylight or artificial light conditions, this ink will have a pale green hue but will glow an eerie green color in darkness. Colors can be obtained by adding small amounts (up to 10%) of Union Ink's Ultrasoft, PLUE Fluorescent Inks.
Printers can mix their own phosphorescent plastisol with Phosphorescent green powder (PH-PP-30) and Ultrasoft Clear for Metallics PLUE-9030. Add six pounds of phosphorescent powder to each gallon of clear (1½ lbs. powder to each quart).
USES: For use on cottons, cotton/polyester blends, can be used on both hot and cold peel transfers.
FINISH: Cures to a soft-hand finish.
OPACITY: Medium opacity on white shirts. Not recommended for dark fabrics without a white under base.
DRYING TIME:PLUE Series plastisol inks will not air dry. They must be heat cured. PLUE Series inks will fully cure and withstand repeated washings when the entire ink deposit reaches 300°F. Curing can be accomplished with the use of a conveyor dryer, flash curing unit, or simple infrared heater. Will semi-cure or gel at 250°F for transfers.
SCREEN FABRIC: Use 83-110 monofilament polyester depending on the substrate.
SCREEN COATING, FILM, BLOCKOUT: Use water soluble hand-cut, photo screens and blockouts with this ink or use other suitable products.
MODIFIERS:Use UPLRE-9000 as a reducer or detackifier. For fluorescent powders use UPLUE-9030.
WASHUP: T-125 mineral spirits, or biodegradable washes SYS-2500, SYS-2550 or SYS-2510 screen wash gel.
