Grumbacher Matte Varnish

                Description:
A damar-based varnish that has a microscopically rough surface that breaks up the gloss reflection. This is done in different ways, but usually by adding beeswax. Matte varnishes are cloudy in the bottle and should be mixed before use. Useful on light paintings (snow scenes, etc.), but not generally helpful in dark paintings.
